Elementary School Counselor of the Year

Aimee Hospodarsky has worked as a school counselor since 2001. Aimee has served on the board as Elementary Vice President, President Elect-Elect, President Elect, President, and is now serving as Immediate Past President. During her time on the board, she has served on a number of committees, including Chronic Absenteeism Advisory Committee, Work-Based Learning Clearinghouse Advisory Committee and the State DE SEL Advisory Committee. Aimee was also appointed by the Governor to Future Ready Iowa Alliance. Aimee’s Principal, Denny Folken, shared she “is one of those rare people that have all the most important attributes that you want to see in your school.
When I think of Aimee, I think of leadership, professionalism, strong work ethic, empathy, trustworthiness, sense of humor, talented, knowledgeable, compassion, drive... the list goes on and on. Her resume is very impressive, but more importantly, she also has the strengths to support her qualifications.” Aimee has developed and implemented a comprehensive school counseling program for both Carpenter Elementary School and Shannon Elementary School in Monticello. In addition to her many leadership roles, she is also a part of her district team that is receiving a District of Distinction award for their K-12 program implementation.
