Awards Nomination Process

Do you know someone who deserves an award for their work as a school counselor?  Do you know someone who has dedicated their career to the betterment of students and the school counseling profession? Do you know someone who is a friend, partner, and advocate for school counselors in Iowa? Then you may know our next award winner. ISCA presents an array of awards at its annual conference in November including

School Counselor of the Year

Think of a counseling colleague...
    • Someone with whom you work
    • Someone from whom you find support
    • Someone whose counseling program supports the ASCA standards
    • Someone who goes that extra mile to support students
    • Someone who makes a true difference and is a credit to the school counseling profession

Nomination Process:

Your nominee with receive an immediate notification vie email and will be asked to complete the online application process.

Nominees must be a member of ISCA as of September 15, 2020.

Lifetime Achievement Award

This recognition is given to an individual who has made major contributions to the school counseling profession in the state of Iowa. Nominate someone who has made a substantial and long-term commitment to the school counseling profession.

Nomination Process

The application packet can be completed by either nominator or the nominee. Nominees must be a member of ISCA as of September 15, 2019.


  • Nomination deadline: August 15, 2020.
  • Application deadline: September 15, 2020.

Advocate of the Year

The School Counselor Advocate of the Year recognizes an individual or group whose advocacy of school counseling services has had a positive effect on school counseling on a local, state or national level. Nominees can be current or past school counselors, principals, parents, school board members, legislators, or state or local organizations that have advocated or provided opportunities for professional school counselors.
