ISCA District of Distinction is a recognition for K-12 school districts in Iowa who are implementing comprehensive school counseling programs which address the career, academic, and social-emotional development of all students.
According to the Iowa Department of Education, a school counseling program is an articulated, sequential kindergarten-through-grade 12 program that is comprehensive in scope, preventative in design, developmental in nature, driven by data, and integral to the school district’s curricula and instructional program. The program must be implemented by a qualified professional school counselor, appropriately licensed by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners.
Recipients of this award are able to document all aspects of their counseling program across the entire school district, showing their commitment to students through best practices for school counseling programs, utilizing state and national standards.
