Award Nominations

ISCA presents an array of awards at its annual conference in November including: Iowa School Counselor of the Year, ISCA Lifetime Achievement Award and Advocate of the Year. Take the next step and nominate your outstanding colleague, partner, mentor and beyond for an ISCA award! Review the criteria and guidelines below.

 

2025 School Counselor of the Year:  The School Counselor of the Year Award honors the best of the best - counselors who are running a top-notch, comprehensive school counseling program at either the elementary, middle, high school, and multi-level. Review the award criteria - click here

The nominee must:
● Hold a Master’s Degree in School Counseling or its equivalent 

   (School Counselor and Lifetime Achievement Awards)
● Have worked as a school counselor, district administrator of school counseling programs, and/or AEA school counseling consultant
● Maintain high moral standards in their personal and professional conduct.

2025 Lifetime Achievement Award:  Annually, recognition is given to an individual who has made major contributions to the school counseling profession in the state of Iowa.

2025 Advocate of the Year:  The School Counselor Advocate of the Year recognizes an individual or group whose advocacy of school counseling services has had a positive effect on school counseling on a local, state or national level. Nominees can be current or past school counselors, principals, parents, school board members, legislators, or state or local organizations that have advocated or provided opportunities for professional school counselors.

Criteria for recognition:
● The nominee has been responsible for innovations in comprehensive school counseling programs, for providing leadership in the further development of existing counseling programs, or for performing an outstanding service to the school or community.
● The nominee has contributed to the professional development of school counselors at the local, area, or state level.
● The nominee has represented the interest, needs, and concerns of school counselors
● The nominee has impacted the future of professional school counseling in Iowa.
● The nominee demonstrates exemplary support and promotion of comprehensive counseling services.
● The nominee demonstrates the implementation of new/additional counseling services
● The nominee should demonstrate the improvement of counseling services.
