About the ISCA Governing Board & Operations Team
Our Transition to Policy Governance
In 2024–2025, ISCA began a significant shift to Policy Governance in order to better align with national nonprofit standards and the evolving needs of our membership. This model separates governance and operations, clarifying responsibilities and streamlining decision-making to enhance effectiveness, transparency, and strategic leadership.
Under this structure:
The Governing Board focuses on mission-driven policy, long-term vision, and oversight.
The Operations Team, led by the Executive Director, manages implementation, programming, and member engagement.
This intentional shift supports ISCA’s continued growth and sustainability as the professional voice of school counseling in Iowa.
